Back in the fall of 2018, we signed up for another ShowIt United Conference shoot, but this time with the talented Sarah Kay Love. She had reached out with the idea of a colorful Frida Kahlo inspired editorial shoot that she was dreaming up. Not only have we loved being a part of the shoots for the conference because the work is always beautiful. We love them because they’re based on educating photographers on their craft.
Once Sarah sent over the inspiration board, we were hooked. Bright colors, unique details and a team of talented vendors making this vision come to life are just a few of the reasons we couldn’t resist joining the fun on this colorful Frida Kahlo inspired editorial shoot.
“I PAINT MY OWN REALITY. THE ONLY THING I KNOW IS THAT I PAINT BECAUSE I NEED TO, AND I PAINT WHATEVER PASSES THROUGH MY HEAD WITHOUT ANY OTHER CONSIDERATION.” – FRIDA KAHLO
One of the things when executing an editorial shoot, is ensuring that you set your expectations for what you want out of it. We made sure that our pieces from our inventory fit the overall aesthetic for this colorful Frida Kahlo inspired editorial shoot. We love being a part of these shoots, but sometimes it gets a bit repetitive. We love being presented with a completely new concept and ideas for our inventory. Seeing how certain chairs or decor can be paired together ahead of time is a sure way to get us to say yes to any sort of project.
Being able to trust the creative team behind a shoot is important to us. We aren’t always on site during the shoots, and rarely see the ‘final’ product. Being able to trust a team to know that they have a great shot list and the finished design will be worth it for you is key. We loved being a part of this colorful Frida Kahlo inspired editorial shoot. The team did an incredible job and we think you’ll fall in love with some of the same details we did; like the beautiful coral wall that was custom built.
