Okay, so you know when you get invited to be a part of a really cool project (in this case, an event) with really talented people that you’ve admired? This next event is just that… We were asked to be a part of a beautiful dinner under the stars in Joshua Tree, California with our new friends at Moonrise Standard. They’re all about bringing people and communities a stronger connection with their food and the farmers that grow it. They want to educate their dinner guests the importance of how their food got to their plate and why it is valuable information to know. We love their mission, love their style, and overall, really just love what they’re doing. So when they reached out, we of course said yes!
Their dinner that we were playing a small part in was in the beauty of Joshua Tree, just by Yucca Valley. If you’ve never been to Joshua Tree, we can’t recommend planning your next adventure there. It is one of our favorite places to camp and adventure around, and we’ve only been there a few times! Our first trip was with a couple of our close friends where we camped, cooked on our stove top, hiked and took some of our absolute favorite photographs. There is just something so special about being outdoors and unplugging, right? Ironic that I mention the power of unplugging as I am typing a blog post that I hope a few you will read and enjoy. Anyways, I think I am getting off topic. Back to this dreamy dinner…
The folks at Moonrise Standard had the venue picked out; The Graham Residence. This beautiful home nestled in the mountains was the perfect escape. To get there, you drive through this beautiful winding road that takes you on an escape. You can’t help but imagine that you’re exploring an uncharted planet somewhere in a different galaxy. Once you reach the destination, you realize that there isn’t a building in site! It is quite refreshing knowing how small the world may seem at times, it truly is so vast. We arrived at The Graham Residence and were greeted warmly by our new friend Alana, who had been working on their table set up and air plant installation. Fast forward a week or so prior, we had met Alana at our warehouse and she was explaining to me this idea she had to suspend air plants over the 25+ feet of table, and we were so excited to hear her excitement in her project. Having a team of people who are equally as excited about an event as you may be makes all the difference in the world. We drove from Phoenix with a small trailer filled with lounge furniture, our rustic bar and vintage goblets. We set up some simple lounge pieces around the outdoor fire pit that The Graham Residence offered, and dropped the goblets off with Alana to be set later. We were actually able to sneak away, shower and get ready for the dinner because for the first time in a long time, we were actually invited to be guests and were able to stay. We’ve been lucky and fortunate enough to get invited, but we rarely get to actually say yes and attend because our schedule has been so crazy. So staying for this insane meal was the cherry on top of our day!
When we got back to The Graham Residence, we saw the magic that Alana and the rest of the Moonrise Standard team has created. Suspended air plants over the table, The Little Market linen napkins on the table paired with our vintage goblets, the smell of food being cooked over a charcoal fire grill, and a guest list of people that we’ve admired in the business world for quite some time. To be able to break bread and have authentic conversation with people you’ve admired is something in and of itself. You’re able to realize, truly, that everyone starts somewhere, everyone goes through their own struggles and problems with being a creative or running a business or just surviving, and most importantly, EVERYONE loves food and the connection that food has with people. It is so incredible how food can make complete strangers became fast friends. THIS is exactly what Moonrise Standard is all about. We had the absolute best time at dinner and are already hoping our schedule clears up so we can attend the next Moonrise Standard dinner.
If you’re looking for a fun and unique dining experience, with people who are passionate about what they do, we can’t recommend checking Moonrise Standard out and planning to attend their next dinner. You won’t regret it! A huge thank you for including us in such a fun and magical evening. We are so grateful!
